Greetings from India!
08.11.2010

A few weeks ago I was visiting India once again. It was a beautiful journey, this time I was there just for a holiday. It`s always the same feeling that I get when landing to India. "This is a different world !".  But I seem to forget when I come back to Finland. Well, I hope at least something always remains in me. As a woman I always get a strong feeling of being allowed to be a woman, a peaceful and feminine creature, which I believe I really am, but in the hectic world I seem to forget about it.

Well, back to our journey. First few days we spent in Delhi, the crowded and hot city that I like a lot, but just for a short while. Otherwise it`s quite tiring with its noises and voices and everybody trying to sell you something all the time. Then we traveled to Jaipur, which is called the Pink city. And truly, all the buildings are red there!

After visiting Jaipur and its palace, we traveled the whole day straight to the country. Slowly I started to get a really peaceful and on the other hand adventurous feeling. Like a child playing in the woods of wonderland. We arrived to the jungle, Ranthambore. We slept well and next day, we went to a tiger safari, which was my dream come true. Green parrots flying and sitting on the branches of huge banyan trees, the kind of trees, under which Buddha is said to have his enlightenment. Antilopes, spotted antilopes, a Kobra and the sounds of jungle around us everywhere. The finally...a tiger! It was a powerful animal, no doubt about it. But as it started to follow our car and of course the car didn`t have any windows or a roof, I got quite scared. Luckily it finally turned into the forest. We managed to see also another tiger very close, so the trip was perfect!

Then next day we traveled to Agra, to see the wonderful Taj Majal. Which was really wonderful. The feeling of looking at the Taj Majal could be compared into to the feeling of looking at the Himalajas, I think. It so soothing and beautiful.

Then back to Delhi, where I met a great musician, Pandit Bhajan Sopori. They have played Santoor in nine generations. He was such a character. Such a loving and noble man, just like his son, who also is a great musician. I got the honor to be their student! And on December I will travel back to India to study Indian classical singing with them. Such a wonderful journey!
